Tonight's Classwork

Students -
Please help each other tonight. Please read the letter on the desk.
1. Look at ALL THE PAST TENSE VERBS on the list. Help each other to fill in the final words. TOMORROW (WED) we'll have a test on them.

2. Yesterday we went to the library. How many sentences can you write using PAST TENSE VERBS about it? (I am expecting 3-8 sentences, depending on your writing skills.)

For example:
We We went to the library. I wore a hat because it was cold. We left here at 6:30.
You can visit google.com - images - and put in an image too: Maybe the Fairwood Library? Or a book cover? Or....? (Dalong, Esther, Ivan, and Olga can help you add an image...Maybe Juventino too.....)

3. Please visit 2-3 blogs and leave comments.

AFTER BREAK:
You can play "partner games" in the other room and also fill in the grammar handouts/crosswords. How many can you do? Write your name on them. Give everything to Sofia when you are done.

You must write 5 sentences using the past tense words from our list (parts 1, 2, 3) but you must use DIFFERENT VERBS than the other students. Talk to each other to "dibs" the words you want! ("Dibs" means "I want it.")
Say, for example, "I dibs went!"
Post your five sentences HERE, so we can easily see all of them.

Then, work with a partner to study our new words: "say" through "take". We will have a Spelling Bee in class.

What are you thankful for?

This week is Thanksgiving, when we take time to be with our friends and family and count our blessings.
I am thankful for my health, my great family, and for the chance to eat and talk with them. I am thankful for my great job, because every day I learn so much, and my students are so enthusiastic. I am thankful that I live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
What are you thankful for this year?

Today's assignment:
My favorite store is Fred Meyer. I like it because it has great prices and a good selection of many items. I always cut Fred Meyer coupons out of the paper. I also like it because the employees are friendly and helpful. I shop there at least once a week. I know the layout of my usual store, but when I go to a different branch, I always get lost. Where is the flour? Where is the milk? Then, I have to ask somebody for help.

Renton Rain

It was a rainy weekend. Many people hate the rain but there is nothing we can do about it. We have many beautiful green trees here because of the rain.
When it rains, I try to cheer myself up. Sometimes I make hot chocolate. Sometimes I watch a movie. Sometimes I read a book and listen to the sound of the rain on the roof. What do you do when it rains?

What did you do yesterday?

On Veterans Day I slept in until 9:00. When I woke up I was surprised that the weather was nice. The rain had stopped, and the sun was shining! This put me in a good mood. I ran errands, and hummed in the car as I drove. I uploaded some videos for class (see below). I commented on student blogs (see your blog!) In the evening I went to the mall with my husband and we walked around. It was very crowded. We ate sushi for dinner. It was delicious.

Yesterday was Veterans Day - no school. What did you do? Write at least five sentences on your blog.

We start the evening in computer lab, working on our English blogs, typing, grammar, and pronunciation.

You Inspire Me, Michelle!

Even if I do not ever hula-hoop, I feel inspired by the enthusiasm, liveliness, and unpretentious attitude of Michelle Obama. She is so down-to-earth, always ready to try anything. She even talked about how much she loves french fries...which I love too. Who inspires you?

Last Weekend

Last weekend, I relaxed at home. I baked some cookies and cleaned my kitchen. I exercised at the community gym. I took my son to work, and then I went to the mall. I walked around and looked at all the people. I like to "people-watch." I also talked to my sister on the phone for over an hour! On Sunday we ordered pizza and ate it as a family. As usual I ate too much. It was a great weekend!
